Iowa is a state in the mid-western region of the United States of America. It is officially known as the “Hawkeye State” and unofficially as the “Tall Corn State”. Iowa is not always the first place that people think of while planning to go out for a vacation. But the truth is that Iowa has a lot to offer to tourists, and Iowa tourism is on a rise. Iowa has tourist activities for every season and there is something to do, no matter what time of the year you’re planning to visit Iowa.

There are a variety of interesting sites in Iowa and each site has its’ own charm and beauty that will completely floor you. Here is a list of them.

  1. The capital of Iowa, Des Moines is an excellent destination for the family vacation. There is a Blank Park Zoo which is very beautifully landscaped and there is the State Historical Museum and the Science Center of Iowa. A good place to visit with the whole family is the Des Moines Art center. For people who love nature, there is the Indian Creek Nature Center in Cedar Rapids that has 210 acres of beautifully restores savannas, prairies and woodlands.
  2. Other options include casinos, antique shopping, historic museums and other places. Des Moines is known around the world as an excellent family vacation destination. The largest tourism event for the State is the Iowa state fair. Altoona, a nearby town offers hundred different rides, shows and other attractions with four roller coasters.
  3. Cedar Rapids will provide you with a unique cultural experience. Brucemore offers beautiful gardens to walk through with a Queen Anne style mansion that was built in the late eighteen hundreds. You will also find a Czech Village that is filled with variety of bakeries, restaurants and shops. The city offers Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, Iowa Mansion Library and Museum, the National Czech and Slovak Museum and the Indian Creek Nature Centre.
  4. Iowa offers a rich heritage of history. There are historic sites to visit and learn about in every corner of State, especially along the mighty Mississippi. Many of the accommodations that you’ll find in Iowa are chain hotels and motels. It offers an excellent selection of bread and breakfast for travelers. The B & BS in Iowa range from historic inns to farmhouses. An excellent choice in Des Moines is the Butler house on Grand, which has luxury decorated rooms that have been featured in national magazines as well.
  5. Iowa has a tourist bureau that is ready and willing to help you plan your business or personal trips to their state. They can help you with family travel, cheap and discount travel and lots of information for the business traveler too.
