Bulgaria, a country with historical and cultural heritage, and an attractive and natural landscape, is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Europe. This country has historical towns and cities, summer beaches and mountain ski-resorts, making it a paradise for tourists. Although Bulgaria was not a very popular tourist destination in the past few years, but has now become a holiday makers’ haven.  Over the last years, Bulgaria has seen its’ economy grow from strength to strength and the tourism sector with many luxurious hotels and multiplexes has made Bulgaria a place where people love to stay and visit.

Here are some interesting features of Bulgaria that make it a popular tourist destination.

  1. Bulgaria enjoys long and hot summer days of July and September. The Bulgarian summer resorts include Sozopol, Nessebur, Golden sands, and sunny beaches, Albena and St Constantine & Helena. Guests such as Germans, Scandinavians and Russians favor the summer beach.
  2. The cold snowy winter months of January and February present snow-capped mountains and many popular and picturesque resorts such as Borovetz, Pampovoro, Bansko and Vitosha. This means that Bulgaria has something to offer to everyone who has an ideal holiday in mind.
  3. Bulgaria has a lot of chance to pull tourism due to the thermal springs and the beautiful mountain ranges it enjoys. It can offer lots of options to travelers interested in enjoying nature walks or pampering themselves at the real spas situated in the quiet mountain slopes of Bulgarian mountain ranges.
  4. There are many reasons why Bulgaria has enjoyed this sudden boom in tourism, partly because of low cost holidays as compared to Spain, Portugal and many other summer hotspots that people normally travel to. Moreover, Bulgaria has a wonderful culture and history, beckoning people to come here, year after year.
  5. Emerging type of tourism such as “ethno-tourism” and “architectural-cultural tourism” are increasingly gaining grounds in Bulgaria due to its’ rich cultural heritage. Climbers scale the granite mountains of Rila, Pirin and Balkan. Hikers enjoy the mountains of Vitosha and Rhodopes-the latter being the mythical birthplace of Orpheus.  Mountain biking and bicycle ranging are also recreations, and Bulgaria is one of only six countries to annually host the official 1,200 kilometers “Randonnees”-ultra marathon bicycle rides patterned after Paris-Brest- Paris.
  6. There are a number of monasteries and temples that provide excellent opportunity for people to have a closer look at the heritage and culture of Bulgaria.
